*All Times Eastern Time Zone (GMT)
*All times are estimate and may change
With all the new changes for 2008, and the
new venue, we wanted to keep the schedule almost exactly the same as 2007.
We may begin a tradition where we flip-flop the road and oval starting in
2009. Last year, with the addition of the 4th qualifier, we had the
most positive feedback ever towards the schedule. This year we are
cutting back a little of the open practice and starting the day an hour
later. And once again, we will be
limiting entries
to accommodate this better schedule for 2008. Schedule above is
based on 750 entries. If we get less, times will be modified (start
later, and end earlier).
|
Check-In:
Check-in will begin Monday evening in the conference center
registration area (by the glass
doors to the conference center). You can also check-in Tue, Wed, and
Thu. This is when you can purchase your handout tires/motors,
pick up your free stuff, etc.
Pits Setup:
We will announce what time Monday you can setup in the conference center
ballrooms (for sponsors and racers that purchases reserved pits). It
will more than likely be Monday night (not earlier).
Practice Days:
You must practice with the rules of your
class:
Stock motors in stock practice, 19 in 19, etc.
Most all of practice will be controlled. Practice is set with the same
class order as the racing order, to simulate similar track conditions and
schedules. Exact times will be at the race.
Tuesday: will
have open practice, and timed-controlled practices per
class. Wednesday: will have
open practice, a timed-controlled practice per class, AND a practice by your heat
race. Thursday-Sunday:
will have an open practice before qualifying/mains begin. This helps groove
the track for racing before the races begin.
Open Practice:
This is for when time is limited, and allows
racers a chance to get on the track and turn some laps. These
are short 1 minute runs and 10 cars at a time hit the track (they are not
separated by class). You can make a small change and run a few laps to
see how your car handles. Lots of cars can run in this time frame.
We will have open practice before the heats start on Thu, Fri, Sat
and mains on Sun.
Time-Controlled
Practices:
This is where we schedule
times for each class to practice in. Schedule is based
on number of entries per class. Stock practices with stock, etc. Some of these are cut short to still
allow more controlled practice with cars in the same class, rather than
having everyone out at once.
Practice by Heats on Wed: Heat races are
setup and practice is controlled based on the heat lineup. Heat #1 is
practice #1, heat #23 is practice #23, etc. Racers run with the
drivers in their heat race. After each practice, drivers marshal the
next practice race.
Qualifying:
Qualifying begins on Thursday
again this year. We do stagger/Ifmar starts for
both Oval & Road heats. Each driver will be on their own race clock.
Resorts:
NEW FOR 2008
We will have a resort after each round.
This means 3 resorts. This is where we have a new heat line-up based on the
previous qualifying results. Faster cars end up qualifying together.
We take your best single qualifier to set the mains (and the resorts). There are four
qualifiers and one main event. The top nine cars are locked into the A-main.
(because of the bump driver from the B) 1st Timers:
If you can not make practice Tue/Wed, we will
work on allowing you to jump ahead of the line for open practice on
Thursday. We did this last year and it worked well. Let us know
before the race if you want to be included in this. |
'Bump N Run' Saturday:
We
did it last year and it was a huge success. 100's of spectators lined
the track to watch the excitement!
Here's how it works:
The top
nine drivers are locked into the
A-Main. Qualifiers 10th-19th will compete in the B-Main, which will be
run Saturday after the last heat race.
(B-main roads after last road
race, B-main ovals after last oval race). Winners of the
B-mains will be able to advance
into the
A-mains, which are raced on Sunday. They will start in the 10th
starting spot. We also did bump-ups in
year
three of the 'birds!
10th qual gets the famous BQ Screw award,
and we have a 'Bump N Run' award to the racer that bumps (see picture
below).
Saturday Night Tiki Party at the
Radisson:
The Radisson will be having a special poolside party Saturday night for the
Snowbirds! Karaoke, music, food, and fun. We want to present the
TQs, B-main bumps, and B-main screws with their awards during this time.
Everyone welcome! Exact times will be at the race.
No
shoes required!
