2007 Summer Shootout
The FCC is coming to Minnreg Aug 25th/26th, as the third race of the Florida Carpet Cup hits the very popular indoor carpet track!

So far, 118 racers have duked it out the past two carpet events and there has some been serious competition. Minnreg is one of the racers favorites as it features indoor pitting - with tables, chairs, and power all provided! There also is food and drinks available trackside by Mrs. Julie, Emmy and family! Thunder Racing has a world class race crew that helps makes sure the track is great, and the racing even greater. We invite everyone to come be a part of the RC fun of racing indoors at this perfect race location. Hotels are conveniently located and rates are low, thanks to Oceans of Opportunity, which has a link on rcthunder.net. Saturday Aug 25th is road course racing and Sunday Aug 26th is oval! Lots of racers are planning on doing the double and running both. Can oval racers turn right? We will see.... Be here for the action! Spectators are FREE!

SUMMER SHOOTOUT SPECIAL:  Any racer signed up for two classes or more gets a free Snowbird T-shirt, any year, any size we have in stock!!!

Novice Stock was a new addition to the Spring series and saw several new racers hit the track. Jeff Noel, father of off-roader and new oval racer Tyler, is leading barely over Red Kevin. Kevin is the one that writes up those awesome articles from MTR. Jerry Parrotts girlfriend Kelly is planning on racing again and showing the boys how to race carpet oval!

Pro stock shows long time Thunder Raceway racer in his familiar #24 leading the pack. Hopeton Williams is the point leader with the bud man himself, Rick Curtis in 2nd. There’s a great two way tie for 3rd between Danny Charles and Mark Abbott. Pro Stock might see the addition of a few new racers, as the DOG day brought in some new excitement to this class. Maybe not ten men but tinman?

12th scale 19 has long time 12th scale hot rodder and Daytona Speedway promoter Mike Bean is up top with teammate Curt Sanderson 2nd. Road racer Cheston Vanalstyne is 3rd, showing he can run oval with the best of them. The 3rd member of MB racing is sitting 4th right now, Mel Mccoy. MBRacing works their tails off to make Minnreg happen - thanks guys.

Pro 19 has short track asphalt superstar Rich Baran leading the florida carpet cup, with the new daddy Doug Miller in 2nd. Always fast and always a threat, Snowbird A-Mainer Tom Pedano, holds on to 3rd.

Sportsman 19 is being led by dirt oval champion and long time oval racer Floyd Holton, with one of the original Hooters, Wolfee, in 2nd. There’s a great battle for 3rd with local favorite DT Darrell Taylor and Hopeton tied for that spot.

10.5 Brushless has Mr. Race Rock and always fast Billy Bruce leading on the carpet. He’s being chased by Rich Boehmler from Daytona in his familiar #31 and surprise driver Bill Spicer is in 3rd.

Pro Mod is the fastest of the fast, and has tow long time rival racers tied for #1 - Mike Boylan and Billy Bruce. This battle should be fun. Theres a great tie for 3rd with Snowbird A-Mainer Troy Meridith and Billys bro, Mike Bruce.

For the summer series we will be offering 13.5 brushless as a new class, and hope to have the novices coming back and some new ones joining in on the fun. Watch for some new expo racing with the new Losi micro sprints. NASCAR is on Saturday night from Bristol and we are going to have a party. This is going to be fun! We should have some practice Saturday night for oval starting around 8pm. Lights off at 1am. We are not open all night for practice this time. Doors open Sunday at 6am for practice. Sign up Sunday am from 8am-9am. Oval racing begins at 10am. cya here!

Touring Stock Rubber is currently the biggest class to race so far with 28 drivers. Long time Florida racer Dave Bowser is up top, with local racer Austin Harrison in 2nd. Austin and his dad Ron help get the carpet smoothed out for each race! Thanks guys!! 3rd right now in the points is Jimmy Morris. Good runs have been turned in currently for our 4th place man John Grant.

Touring Stock Foam did not run the last race but did in Jan for the winter shootout, with Jason Breiner taking top honors from BMI. Rumor is there may be some foam racing for the summer shootout as there are some new foams coming out from Jaco racers are excited about.

GTP Stock has had some great fields and Orlando’s Cheston Vanalstyne, who also in 3rd in 12th oval, is leading this group! Corally man, Michael Bruce is right behind him in 2nd and Rick Smith, who is getting back into the carpet, is running good sitting 3rnd

Touring 19 Rubber has been real competitive and Dave Bowser again is sitting up top in this class! Adrian Martinez is in the 2nd place and great job to Toni Munno who is holding onto 3rd! 19 turn rubber will be soon renamed possibly to limited mod as we are now allowing 10.5 brushless in this class. This brought more cars and more competition for the Spring shootout.

Touring Mod started out with foam tires in Jan and then ran rubber tires the last race. The racing has been awesome both times. Paul Wynn sits up top winning both the winter and spring Shootouts. Steve McNichols runs in 2nd and there’s a great battle for 3rd with Michael Bruce and Shad Galante tied for that spot.

Many racers from Florida are heading to Vegas for the IIC race and this is their last chance to run on the rug. We wish them te best of luck out there! You can expect some packed pits this race with racers from all over the state coming to Minnreg. Eric Anderson now lives in Tampa and is coming to run some road races including the summer shootout. The race flyer is located on rcthunder.net. We look forward to seeing everyone here for the racing! Stay tuned for Friday night practice times. Pits will be open at 6pm to start setting up. Lights off at 1am no matter what. We are not open all night for practice this time. Doors open Saturday at 6am for practice. Sign up Saturday am from 8am-9am. Road racing begins at 10am. CYA here!
